Nutritional Education
In planning the MOW meal menus, client comments and feedback are taken into consideration.
Every year each MOW client receives a satisfaction survey to which about 50% reply. We read all comments. We also receive telephone calls and notes from our MOW clients on a daily basis and all comments are recorded.
Each of our MOW meals meets at least one-third of the daily recommended dietary allowances.
A registered dietitian reviews the nutritional analysis prior to finalizing the menus.
The sodium content of our meals does not exceed 1,000 milligrams on average. No salt is
added during meal preparation, and salt-free products (such as frozen vegatables rather
than canned vegatables) are used as much as possible.
Our MOW cooks take pride in their work, and they are outstanding at finding creative
ways to add flavor to our meals without adding salt or fat. The MOW kitchen staff
and the Site Director monitor meals daily for flavor, tenderness, and appearance.
A nutrition assessment is completed on each MOW client who receives our meals. After
this assessment, each client is offered nutritional education based on that client's
nutritional weakness.
